The Gallery 03:01
The Gallery Walking through the gallery There are so many eyes to meet Every mirror needs a face Trap the mood in a frame No, it isn’t real It’s just something that you feel That you feel A fragile pose, a youthful gaze Forever they will stay that way Every story needs a frame Every story is opaque No, it isn’t real It’s just something that you feel That you feel Flowers shooting from a vase Frozen colours streaks of pain In cityscapes the silence reigns These written sounds they float in vain The silhouette of naked trees A golden touch of alchemy Shining trough the autumn leaves The slow decay of memories No, it isn’t real It’s just something that you feel That you feel

The Starlings Slow rhyme Glow time Re wind When did I dream about this? Slow lines Flow wild Slow signs Can’t get my head around this I was in the centre Of a quiet afternoon The sun was sharing a pale blue sky With an early moon A cloud of starlings Stretched out and disappeared Caught myself thinking Is this what I have feared? Slow rhyme Glow time Re wind When did I dream about this? Slow lines Flow wild Slow signs When did I dream about this? I was on a journey Through the yellow hills of doom I was saying something Or was I spoken to I was on the verge of something I thought I found the key When a fleeting crowd of nothing Stole it back from me Slow rhyme Glow time Re wind When did I dream about this? Slow lines Flow wild Slow signs When did I dream about this?

The Jungle 02:41
The Jungle Like a little child in the jungle You wander through my heart You like the birds and you like the monkeys You like the jaguar But you don’t like the snakes and the spiders You will lose your mind Yes the snakes and the spiders Are not very kind You wander off the path You stumble and you grasp The very fatal branch A spider on your hand You start to scream and Pray it’s just a dream I could say I’ve told you so But you don’t want to know I could say I’ve told you so But you don’t want to know No you like to play And then it is too late Like Saint Peter walking on water I am not afraid Like Saint Peter I will go down When I lose my faith You tell me I can breathe under water That is not the case There’s lots to see under water But you never see straight You make me feel alive I take another dive You call me in the deep You want me there for keeps You like to play And then it is too late
5.
The Enemy 02:49
The Enemy Well here you are Back in the war You thought you Left behind Down in the woods The enemies Like shadows Multiply No need to search Your bitter heart The time has come To play the part You know So well There’s no here To help you out They won’t know What you mean And maybe Just by telling them You’d show The enemy Where to enter Through the fence Your last pose Of innocence Un- Veiled The wind is blowing through the trees The days to short the light’s to weak You don’t like the thoughts you trace They stare at you from every page And in their eyes you clearly see The movements of the enemy And I don’t like it Anymore then you She’ll come to you And give you back The dreams you Left behind She never had the chance To love Someone Of her kind She’ll throw herself Into your arms And beaming With her deepest charms She’ll light The way She’ll tell you You’re the only one Although You’re not the first She’ll love you Like the chosen one Who quenches Every thirst She‘ll tell you To forget the past She’ll tell you That her love will last So Dream With her And when she finds herself at ease She will slowly start to tease You with her body, with her words She’ll linger where she knows it hurts And in her eyes you clearly see The movements of the enemy And I don’t like it Anymore then you

Vanity 05:30
Vanity I don’t know what it is You mistake me for Do you want my Jesus? Do you want my rock and roll? I got to give you something And I better do it quick It all happens on the surface And the surface must be slick There is so much information That I cannot unfold Got to turn a blind eye Or they call me paranoid Still I’m haunted by these dreams There is a tremor in my soul I exorcise these demons To invite them just once more But… Don’t I know very well? You don’t need my honesty Don’t I know very well? That we deal in vanities Sometimes when the voices Have stopped to disagree I sing away the darkness And lose my gravity Full of inspiration When every breath is mine I can’t help to wonder Where was I all this time? My father is in heaven On this world he gave up Father reigns in heaven It’s a steady job My mother runs a warehouse It is stacked up till the roof Mother runs a warehouse Now she can hardly move My brother is a servant He works from nine to five My sister she’s a merchant She is selling daddy’s lies My friends they all believe in something’ Oft they call it love My friends they all believe in something But something’s not enough And I’m just like a lady Who knows not what to wear I’m just like a lady I need that special care But… Don’t I know very well? You don’t need my honesty Don’t I know very well? You can’t leave the family When I was child I walked by a mountain stream The stones looked beautiful So I took them home with me As soon as I got back I took them out One by one To my disappointment The glow they had was Gone I’ve been driven by desire I’ve been sick and I’ve been old I’ve been dancing with my demons I’ve been lost and I’ve been sold I’ve been down and disconnected I’ve been speeding down the road I’ve been dining with the gods I’ve been juggling with my load I’ve been flirting with the love With the love she gave to me I’ve been nailing my Jesus Up to my neighbour’s tree But… Don’t I know very well? You don’t need my honesty Don’t I know very well? That I deal in vanities Deep down in the ocean Creatures live unknown Can’t bring them to the light For they will explode All our deepest moments We’ll take them to the grave The truth won’t reach the surface The sun won’t light the cave

Sleepy Eyes 03:44
Sleepy Eyes Sleepy Eyes Don’t talk with the other boys Let me sing my way on down To your heart Sleepy eyes I know you’re not ready for love You want to see the world and just be free But Sleepy Eyes I’m just a loving fool I’ll settle for a sweet memory Don’t fear the morning Will sober us up I’ll cover these worries I’ll sing you a song Sleepy eyes Come crawl into my world Let me give you what You think you don’t deserve Sleepy eyes I don’t need another drink Let me take you home Don’t let me wait too long Don’t fear the morning Will sober us up I’ll cover these worries I’ll sing you a song Love Runs free girl Don’t hold it back Because this or that Don’t hold it back Don’t you forget Don’t hold it back There’s only so much time we get Come sip a little happiness With me

A Trip For Two Waking up together somewhere in the afternoon The sound of playing kids coming from the nearby school You make us some tea while I put a record on There’s nothing here to harm us our world has just begun On their favourite branch the pigeons sit and swoon Every now and then the sun lights up our room I hand you the honey when you ask me for a spoon You wear my woollen sweater that’s far too big for you And baby we can live this life forever Yes baby we can dream or dreams whenever As long as we can dream our dreams As long as we can dream our dreams As long as we can dream our dreams together Walking down the streets with nothing special on our minds On a train down south for a weekend out Walking through the hills in the winter sun We sit against a tree and smoke a little some And baby… Looking through the window of some second hand shop We see Jesus crucified amidst the clockworks and the cups A lady in her fifties dressed up all white Steps out of her car like a fairy queen she strides And baby…

Double, double Double mind Shadows talking From behind There is someone Outside In these old mirrors We do meet ourselves Lost in a distance That we cannot spell The sun will set In colours wild This world will sing Your senses high You’ll meet the one Who’s there for you You’ll speak of love You’ll touch the truth You’ll see the world Unfold for you But in every single slice of life A part of you is left outside In many dreams you will partake But there’s always someone left awake In these old mirrors We do meet ourselves Lost in a distance That we cannot spell The sun will set In colours wild This world will sing Your senses high You’ll meet the one Who’s there for you You’ll speak of love You’ll touch the truth You’ll see the world Unfold for you What’s right upfront is Left behind What’s left behind is Right inside What’s right inside is Left outside What’s left outside is Right behind

10 Episodes waiting for you to happen

Episodes is a multidisciplinary project where 10 original compositions from musician/philosopher Jacob Arch have served as a source of inspiration for 10 visual artists from different professional backgrounds (photography, mixed media, painting, installation art) and nationalities.

From Israeli performance/installation artist Yehudit Mizrabi to French graphic designer Axelle Gizard to American photographer Katherine Oktober Matthews: each artist has chosen a song to visually express his or her interpretation of the lyrics and the music. The results were shown for the first time in Gallery Victoria Kovalenchikova (Amsterdam), where all the artworks were exhibited alongside the lyrics of the song they are based upon (October 2011).

The visitors, using the headphones provided, were be able to listen to the song that mirrors the artwork. With this unique form of presentation the visitors found themselves in the centre of three different expressions of the same episode and were invited to form their own interpretation.

A special edition of the cd 'Episodes', designed by one of the participants (Axelle Gizard), with a 26 page full colour booklet with reproductions of all the artworks can still be ordered online
